Bradford College

Bradford College actively encourages staff to engage in scholarly activity, both subject specific and pedagogic.  The forms of activity in which staff engage are diverse, but typically include: action research, applied research, attendance at conferences and colloquia, conference presentations/workshops, consultancy, curriculum development, exhibitions, higher level qualifications, industrial or commercial secondments, subject updating and writing for publication.  Staff also represent the College on subject networks and professional bodies, take part in professional updating and engage in a range of other activities aimed at keeping the College up-to-date on subject area developments and on teaching and learning.

Glyndŵr University

Hartpury College and University Centre

Hartpury College and University Centre is one of the UK’s leading land-based and sports educational establishments. Our stunning specialist campus covers more than 360 hectares and is located near to both Gloucester and Cheltenham.

Hartpury is an Associate Faculty of the University of the West of England (UWE) and has been working in partnership with UWE since 1997. It is currently working towards ‘Taught Degree Awarding Powers’ with the aim of awarding its own degrees, potentially from September 2018.

Leeds Arts University

Leeds College of Music

Leeds College of Music (LCoM) is a leading European conservatoire and the largest in the United Kingdom. LCoM provides music education to a community of over 1,900 musicians through a variety of programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, numerous short courses for all ages, and a Saturday Music School for young musicians aged nine–18.

The conservatoire opened in 1965 as Leeds Music Centre, providing a light music course with a significant focus on jazz. The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts was set up to combine performance, technical innovation, understanding and business awareness for youngsters intent on sustained careers in the arts and entertainment economy. The LIPA cost some £20m to create. Spearheading its creation were Sir Paul McCartney (Lead Patron) and Mark Featherstone-Witty (Founding Principal/CEO). The curriculum is holistic. The London Institute of Banking & Finance

London Film School

London Film School (LFS) is a not-for-profit film school in London and is situated in a converted brewery in Covent Garden, London, neighbouring Soho, a hub of the UK film industry.

LFS was founded in 1956 by Gilmore Roberts as the London School of Film Technique (LSFT). Originally based on Electric Avenue in Brixton, the school moved to its current premises on Shelton Street in 1966, after a brief parenthesis in Charlotte Street, and changed its name to London Film School in 1969. From 1974 to 2000, it was known as the London International Film School (LIFS), and reverted to the name London Film School in 2001.

LFS offers various degrees at postgraduate level: an MA in Filmmaking, an MA in Screenwriting, and, in partnership with the University of Exeter, an MA in International Film Business and a PhD in Film by Practice. It also offers an expanding range of short and part-time professional development courses under the LFS Workshops banner.

LFS recruits students from all over the world and is specifically constituted as an international community; around 60% of its students are from outside the United Kingdom. LFS is one of the ScreenSkills “Film Academy Centres of Excellence”.

Norwich University of the Arts

Ravensbourne’s practice-based research also supports investigation into the industrial and cultural contexts, and impacts and value of emerging technologies. We are particularly interested in the aesthetics and uses of technologies which have relevance to the Creative Industries. Researchers at Ravensbourne are likely to draw from ethnography, creative methods, action research, textual analysis, and production and audience studies. Rose Bruford College

Royal Agricultural University

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is the oldest agricultural college (1845) in the English-speaking world, but also the newest, gaining university title in 2013; until 2000 it was outside the public sector. The RAU was founded with the express aim of delivering what is now termed translational research in a period of rapid scientific and technological developments. It is one of the smallest universities in the UK but has doubled in size during this REF period from ~600 students in 2007 to over 1100 in 2013. Increased size and natural turnover has enabled growth in academic staff during the latter part of this period, allowing realisation of the strategic plan to recruit research active staff to increase research capacity. Growth and level of research activity needs to be set within this transition. Historically the focus has been on teaching but research is also core to the mission, growth and development of the university.

York St John University
