Head of institution: Professor Freda Bridge
Professor Freda Bridge is Principal and Chief Executive of Leeds Trinity University College, a post that she has held since September 2006. Previous to this she was Dean of the School of Education and Professional Development at the University of Huddersfield for over six years.
Freda Bridge is well known in the field of Teacher Education having been Head of Education at Edge Hill University.
She has contributed to many developments with the Teacher Development Agency including the evaluation and monitoring of research projects.
Her research interests are in the field of Teaching as a Profession, an area for which she has an international reputation.
Freda Bridge is a member of several national bodies and committees including HEA National Teaching Fellowship, GuildHE Executive, QAA Access and Licensing Committee, QAA ACDAP Committee, HEFCE Workforce Steering Group, Church Colleges and Universities Executive. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Institution news
The University College, previously known as Leeds Trinity & All Saints, is beginning the 2009 academic year with a new title after being granted the power to award its own degrees. The new powers, granted by the Privy Council, mean that Leeds Trinity can design and approve its own courses and award Leeds Trinity University College degrees to its students. The institution has the highest levels of graduate employment in Leeds and will continue to offer degrees with a strong employment focus.
