Anglo-European College of Chiropractic

Website: www.aecc.ac.uk

Founded in 1965, the AECC Chiropractic College in Bournemouth is a not-for-profit independent higher education institution and has one of the strongest identities of any chiropractic college in the world. As one of the oldest providers of chiropractic education outside the United States, the AECC is a dedicated institution whose mission is focused on the provision of chiropractic education and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Head of institution: Dr Kenneth Vall

Kenneth Vall has been associated with AECC ever since graduating as Doctor of Chiropractic in 1974. He has been Principal of AECC since 2004. Kenneth Vall has overseen many changes at AECC including the introduction of funded student places and the establishment of AECC as an Associate College of Bournemouth University, which has allowed AECC to enhance its teaching and research activities whilst maintaining the atmosphere of a small specialist institution. Prior to becoming Principal, he served as a Governor and Vice-Chairman of the Employment and Personnel Committee at Brockenhurst College, and sat on the Royal College of Physicians Committee (2003-2007), representing the interests of Complementary Alternative Medicine. Under Kenneth Vall's leadership, the AECC plays a full and active part in the wider chiropractic world through attendance at conferences and membership of the European Chiropractors' Union, the European Academy of Chiropractic and the World Federation of Chiropractic.

Institution news

On 12 January 2009 the AECC's new, state-of-the-art teaching clinic opened - the culmination of many years of thought, planning and execution. The 1500m2 facility, built at a cost of nearly £4m, represents a major investment by the AECC to its local community. It also enhances the college's reputation as one of the world's most pre-eminent providers of chiropractic education. Designed by Archial Architects, project-managed by White Young Green and built by Interserve Ltd., the new clinic took just 12 months to construct. Containing 34 treatment rooms, a functional exercise sports assessment and rehabilitation centre and facilities for diagnostic ultrasound, x-ray and fluoroscopy, the clinic is the largest chiropractic treatment centre in Europe.
