Staff List & Responsibilities
Chief Executive Officer: Alice Hynes
Key responsibilities are to advise the Chair, Executive Group and the Council on: the development of policies; marketing; publicity and oversight of web; maintaining and developing working relationships with government departments, external agencies and other key stakeholders; professional and other national organisations; sustaining a network of advice and support for Members; producing responses to consultative documents which are representative of Members’ views. Acts as secretary to the GuildHE Press & PR and Research specialist networks and for Sub-Associations such as ukadia and the Practical Governance Network. Works with Universities UK on national developments such as the Delivery Partnership.
Policy Adviser and Deputy CEO: Helen Bowles
Key responsibilities are the development and dissemination of policies and responses to consultative documents relating to: quality and standards; learning and teaching; student engagement; student complaints and appeals; student information needs (including the national Student Survey and use of the Unistats site); copyright and other negotiations on behalf of members. European activity and the Bologna Process, international including the introduction of the new points based system for visas, equality issues and human resources. Acts as secretary to the GuildHE Quality Management, Human Resources and International Networks.
Policy Officer: Nick Johnstone
Key responsibilities are the development and dissemination of policies and responses to consultative documents relating to: higher education funding, admissions, estates, sustainability and finance. Works with the CEO and Deputy CEO to produce relevant data reports. Also acts as secretary to the GuildHE Admissions and Recruitment, Estates and Finance specialist networks.
Web & Finance Administrator: Dee Easter
Key responsibilities are maintaining and updating the GuildHE and ukadia websites, including the development of the Members Area; day to day operation of GuildHE financial processing and banking; working with the Chief Executive Officer and Financial Adviser to produce internal data reports; provision of administrative support to the CEO and Deputy CEO in relation to the GuildHE networks including Press & PR and Human Resources networks; specific project work.
PA & Office Administrator: Hazel Flynn
Key responsibilities are to co-ordinate and provide administrative support across the range of GuildHE office activities. PA to the Chief Executive and diary management. Particular responsibilities include; room bookings and liaison with clients and caterers; oversight and management of the GuildHE members’ directory and database and management of office and related resources. Co-ordination and management of annual conference and other related events and activities. Support for specific projects e.g. the GuildHE/JISC Project.
CREST Network Co-ordinator: Alisa Miller
Key responsibilities are the organisational co-ordination and administrative support for the CREST – Consortium for Research Excellence, Support and Training – based in GuildHE, including the CREST Research Symposia, national training schemes, national postgraduate research student support structures; the CREST web based community including the members areas, the CREST web site, external stakeholder liaison for CREST and internal signposting and the development of IT facilities including repositories and virtual research environments.
Financial Adviser: Consultancy from Mark Taylor of MTCS
Key responsibilities are the management of GuildHE’s financial affairs; budgeting and infrastructure.
