In case you missed it over the summer, the UK Government has confirmed UK businesses and universities should continue to bid for competitive EU funding streams, including Horizon 2020 and European Structural Funds, whilst the UK remains an EU member. The Treasury will underwrite the payment of such awards even when specific projects continue beyond the UK’s departure from the EU. You can view the announcement here.

GuildHE welcomed this statement and, like others in the sector, is pushing for a similar announcement to be made concerning the status of EU staff and students. In particular we have raised concerns with DfE about the lack of clarity relating to the student funding arrangements of EU students starting in 2017. Additionally, thanks to input from members, GuildHE submitted evidence to the House of Commons Science and Technology’s call for evidence.
